The 2017 Cadillac Escalade touts itself as the King of SUVs. Is it worthy of the mantle?

The 2017 Cadillac Escalade

The standard engine is a 6.2L VVT V8 engine with 420 horsepower and 460 lb.-ft. f torque. In fact, that’s the only engine available in the Escalade and it’s more than adequate for any task you might throw at it. To help you control all of that power, there are some important standard features. Surround Vision is a four-camera system that combines to create a bird’s eye view of your Escalade and its surroundings. Seeing your vehicle top down makes it easy to maneuver in tight parking lots. Additionally, Automatic Park Assist is standard, too. Your Escalade can locate parking spots big enough to accommodate it, and steer you in automatically.

Fit for a King?

As you might expect, the Cadillac Escalade is also packed with tons of comfort, convenience, and entertainment features. OnStar 4G LTE WIFi, Wireless Charging, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Heated, leather steering wheel are all standard. 16-speaker, Bose Centerpoint Surround Sound audio is also standard. The setup delivers breathtaking sound quality and volume for every passenger in the Escalade’s expansive cabin. There’s also Bose Active Noise Cancellation which emits negative sound waves to counteract any distracting engine or road noise. As a result, you can certain you’ll only hear what you want to hear, even when driving at speed.

The array of standard features in the 2017 Cadillac Escalade is pretty impressive – and it should be with a starting MSRP of $85,010. But Cadillac also offers three trim levels above the base model. First is the Escalade luxury, then Premium and Platinum.

Escalade Luxury (MSRP: $91,475)

Notable features include:

  • 22” wheels with chrome inserts
  • Driver Awareness Package with Forward Collision Alert, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, Safety Alert Seat, Side Blind Zone Alert, and Rear Cross Traffic Alert
  • Rear Camera Mirror
  • Full Colour HUD

Escalade Premium (MSRP: $96,390)

Notable features include:

  • Adaptive Cruise Control and full-speed Front and Rear Automatic Braking
  • Front LED cornering lamps
  • Third-row 9” entertainment screens
  • Selectable Four-Wheel Drive

Escalade Platinum (MSRP: $107,305)

Notable features include:

  • Premium semi-aniline and Mulan leather seating
  • Sueded-microfibre headliner
  • 18-way, power seats

Arguably, in 2017, the Escalade is better than ever. Predictably, Cadillac’s full-sized SUV is confident on the road and remarkably comfortable on the inside. The King of SUVs is sleek, stately, and unmistakable on Canadian highways.
